On Saturday, 4th October 2025, the Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly joined the nation in marking the National Sanitation Day with an impressive clean-up exercise held at the Industrial Area of Abossey Okai. The event brought together community members, traders, and various institutions in a spirited demonstration of civic responsibility and environmental care.
Leading the charge was the Honorable Member of Parliament for the constituency, who emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment to promote business growth and public health. The Ghana Prisons Service, in collaboration with the Municipal Assembly’s Environmental Health Unit, also participated actively, sweeping, desilting gutters, and clearing refuse heaps along major streets and drains.
Municipal Chief Executive officers, assembly staff, and volunteers worked tirelessly alongside local residents to ensure the industrial zone was thoroughly cleaned. The exercise not only improved the sanitation condition of the area but also fostered community unity and awareness about proper waste management.
The Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining such initiatives and encouraged all citizens to take sanitation as a shared responsibility to make the municipality cleaner, safer, and more attractive for all
