The Municipal Chief Executive for Ablekuma Central, Hon. Frank Nkansah on Monday, January 12, 2026, accompanied the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, on a working visit to the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Market to engage the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association on pricing and operational challenges.
The visit formed part of government’s broader efforts to promote fair pricing, protect consumers, and bring order to the auto parts market. Hon. Frank Nkansah played a key role in the engagement, reaffirming the Assembly’s commitment to supporting traders and improving market conditions within the municipality.
During the interaction with the dealers, the Trade Minister encouraged members of the Association to reflect recent improvements in the Ghanaian cedi in their pricing, while assuring them of government’s continued engagement. The leadership of the Association acknowledged recent price reductions but raised concerns about the activities of middlemen who inflate prices and mislead customers.
In his remarks, highlighted practical measures being pursued by the Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly to improve access and orderliness at Abossey Okai. He announced that by the first week of February 2026, a designated car park would be created along the Agbogbloshie stretch to decongest the area and enable car owners to transact directly with shop operators.
The Trade Minister commended the dealers for their cooperation and encouraged sustained collaboration, while the Ablekuma Central MCE assured traders of the Assembly’s readiness to work closely with all stakeholders in support of local trade and economic development.
